From the designer conjuring up a beautiful idea for a garment, to the seamstress working late into the night, from the manufacturer meeting an order deadline to the driver making deliveries - there’s an army of people at work behind each piece of clothing you wear. At BYT we strive to have as much visibility as possible on each stage of the supply chain to ensure the highest standards of work practice. We want to respect - as we would our own friends and family - all the people working each step of the way with us.
We collaborate with designers who have the best vision and know-how when it comes to sustainable fashion. Through our sister charity Redress and the The EcoChic Design Award, the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition, we have hands-on access to global talent. We are proud to give this talent a platform, and help bring magical ideas to life.
We care about the people who make our clothes and we are passionate about ensuring they are well looked after. There are 80 million garment workers out there cutting and sewing your clothes - 80% of whom are women - with families to feed and dreams of their own. We like to honour these unsung heros. Unlike the thousands of other manufacturers out there (China has 100,000 garment manufacturers alone!), we do our best to ensure best practises and encourage the best possible working conditions with our blue chip manufacturers, who we call our friends.
We value our customers. We think it’s not too much of a big ask to provide you with clothes that are desirable as well as ethically-made. What’s more, we want to inspire you by giving you tips on how to best care for and increase the longevity of your clothes. We want to show you how to style in different, cool ways. And we’ll give you options for renting, returning and caring for your clothing. Above all, we want to help you get as much out of it as possible.
