Practices

BYT has a strong mandate for innovative business. That's why we are a social impact business. Everything we do is anchored by our desire to do good (while making you look good and feel good too). Our main focus is on the creation of a self-sustaining business model that enables us to reach our environmental and social goals. This way, we can continue innovating with our business model - which is grounded in the circular economy so that we keep resources in use and out of landfill - enabling us to transform on a grand scale. Put simply, our entire business is concentrated on that old cliché of what goes around comes around.

Turning the supply chain inside out

We ripped the old fashion supply chain memo and started again: we source our waste first, creating a new supply chain based on what we find. Next, we find last season’s gorgeous leftovers - and because fashion cycles are way too fast anyway, we’re never far behind.

Transparency & Collaboration

We work transparently, telling you as much as we can about our waste partners, manufacturers, the supply chain of each garment, and how we rescue our fabric waste. Working with brands, manufacturers and other designers to release their waste back into the fashion system and into your closet, we provide our partners with unique solutions for their waste reduction. We also collaborate with our sister charity Redress, with whom we share 10% of our profits, on the positive power of fashion by educating on best practices and information. (We love to spread the love!)

Best practice

Because bravery is in our blood, we are testing the market with new materials and methods. As well as investigating new recycled materials, we’re looking into how we can use recycled materials for our labels and packaging. To make ourselves even more accountable, we’ve signed up to the Global Call to Action, an initiative calling for increased circular systems. We’re also a member of Hong Kong’s Sustainable Fashion Business Consortium. We’re sharing best practices by forging our own circular system around fashion’s waste. For example, our customers can rent, return for repair, or donate into our take-back programme, helping to increase jobs while loving the planet.
